About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Test Engineer with practical knowledge of cellular wireless technologies, including 3G, 4G, and 5G. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cellular industry standards, including 3GPP and 3GPP2, and carrier specifications related to performance, compliance, and testing methodologies.
Requirements
Technical/Functional Skills:
Practical knowledge of at least one cellular wireless technology (3G, 4G, 5G)
Understanding of cellular industry standards (3GPP, 3GPP2) and carrier specifications
Expertise in System Level RF Parametric, including RF component characteristics and behavior
Hands-on experience with bench-level wireless testing and debugging at module, reference board, or system level
Understanding of antenna characteristics and their impact on radiated testing
Familiarity with radiated test setups and radiated chamber calibration
Proficiency using RF lab test equipment (VNA, Spectrum Analyzer, Signal/RF generators, Oscilloscope)
Ability to travel domestically (between Cupertino and San Diego)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Relevant Experience:Â BS with 10+ years of relevant experience
Roles & Responsibilities:
Assess platform-level performance across cellular technologies focusing on EMI and RF, primarily antenna sensitivity and Coex losses
Implement in-house test systems and execute validation and characterization test plans
Perform failure analysis to understand low margin or failing behaviors using experimental software/firmware and mock-up hardware
Collaborate with test equipment vendors, technology suppliers, and cross-functional staff to optimize RF parametric performance
Track validation status, analyze results, and communicate issues and insights from data
Set up and prepare device-under-test and test environments for validation
Key Focus Areas:
Low Noise Amplifiers (LNAs), FEMs in module packages for Cellular 4G and 5G
Hands-on measurement/debug experience with RF lab equipment
